Review: winky lux flower balm

Hi everyone! I’m sorry my posts have been all over the place recently but I promise they will be back to normal schedule from now on.

A while back I bought the winky lux flower balm because it was on sale for half price and I was intrigued by what it said that it could do. Since it claims to be a very ‘special’ product, I thought I might as well dedicate a post to it and write a review about it!

Firstly, the packaging. I think the packaging is absolutely gorgeous, the box it comes in is so cute and the flower in the lipstick itself is so pretty, I am always very into flowers or leaves in a transparent ‘case’, I think it’s beautiful. So I keep the box and the lipstick on my vanity for display purposes.

This balm is sold on beautybay for 14’60€ but as I said, I got it for half price in the sale.

Now onto the actual product, this is what it claims to do:

An innovative colour changing lip stain.

Applying to lips completely clear, the Flower Balm’s reactive formula reads the skin’s pH levels, adapting to the perfect pink hue to suit your skin. Applying smoothly to the lips, it provides a subtle enhancement of colour with a comfortable finish – a perfect addition to your daily makeup routine. Plus, with the addition of a real chrysanthemum flower nestled in the bullet, Flower Balm will look as good on your Instagram feed as it will on your lips.

When I first applied this I didn’t think much of it, I wasn’t expecting much because normally these kind of products don’t do very much for me. But I was pleasantly surprised with this balm. It does indeed give a pink hue, it basically just makes your lips ten times pinker, which for me means I get kind of baby pink lips because I already have quite pink lips from myself.

The feel of it is very nice, it feels like it says in the name, like a balm, so it’s really comfortable. However, on two occasions that I wore this the taste of it was disgusting, it was so bad that I had to take off the balm. Yet this only happened to me twice out of all the times that I wore it, so I don’t know if it was indeed the balm on it’s own or in combination with something else.

Conclusion: I do like the product, it gives my lips a very nice colour, but for what it is, a tinted balm, I think it is a little overpriced. The packaging is beautiful I give it that, instagram photos would be made 10 times better with the flower. But I would not recommend buying it unless it is on sale or if you intend to specifically use it for photos.

Have you tried this product? Did you like it?
