Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Minis – A Review

I love liquid lipsticks, but I realised a very important shade was missing from my collection: the nudey brown shade! (how though Sarah, how?). So after hearing sophdoesnails rave about the Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Minis and seeing as there is a brown edition I just couldn’t let it pass! I’ve been wanting to try the Huda Beauty liquid lipsticks for a while but for some reason never dived into them. Until these four beauties came along!

First off, it costs £33 or €37,19. A bit pricey you might say, but you do get 4 (!!) lipsticks. They are mini, but who ever really goes through a whole liquid lipstick anyway? I certainly don’t! There’s a pink, red, brown and nude edition. Since I’m not much of a pink lipstick wearer myself, have enough red ones already and very nude numbers never really look good on me I went with the brown (and maybe the fact that I also didn’t have any browns in my collection yet – bad beauty blogger Sarah).

First thing I noticed when it arrived is that the packaging is s-t-u-n-n-i-n-g. I love the glass muted ‘case’ it comes in. One downside to this is that the colours aren’t really visible through it, so it’s best to keep the outer packaging which has swatches of all the colours until you remember exactly which one’s which.

Onto the actual liquid lipsticks: can I just say right off the bat, I absolutely LOVE THEM. They are so easy to just slide on, take no effort at all. It takes a little while to dry so you’ve got time to apply it well if you’ve got trouble. As it won’t suddenly dry on you whilst you’re still applying it.

It’s really hydrating (of course when my lips are really chapped only the strongest of balms can make my lips not crack). So for the most part it leaves my lips a lot more hydrated than almost any other liquid lipstick I’ve tried (maybe with the exception of the Makeup Geek Plush Matte Liquid Lipstick).

The one downfall of this liquid lipstick is that it doesn’t dry completely (reason why it’s not dehydrating) so it’s definitely not smudge proof. You will definitely need to reapply after eating something but I prefer that than having unbearable lips at the end of the day. But if you don’t eat (HA, like that’s ever going to happen) then you should be fine for the whole day!

I also absolutely love these lipsticks for the colours. There’s a light brown, a deeper brown, a more orangy shade and a darker mauve shade. There’s literally something there for almost every look! Although I have found that the orange shade – called trendsetter – is not as orange as the swatch on the back of the box, but still absolutely beautiful though.

Have you tried the Huda Beauty Liquid Lipsticks? Did you like them?
