Like I said in my February reflection, I’ve decided to start doing weekly round-ups instead of monthly ones. I really enjoy reading these types of posts and I think I’m going to really enjoy writing them as well so here I am!
This week has been cold. So cold actually that the pipes outside on our balcony froze so the excess water from the boiler couldn’t leave and the bathroom has been flooded twice now. Just great. We tried putting hot water down there to defrost it, which worked a little but the thing we need to do now is just wait till it defrosts by itself (and not use the washing machine for a few days). So don’t be surprised if most good things this week were either food or tv, it’s been that kind of week.
Note: when this goes up, thankfully, the pipes have defrosted and we’re able to do our washing again! Yay!
10 things I’m loving
Friends | I finally finished the series! I cried, so much. Even though I had seen the final episode before and I know I can just go watch it again, it felt like the end of an era, like a closing chapter and I didn’t like it. Couldn’t it have just gone on forever, Friends being all the actor’s life work following them until their children grew up and they died of old age? I would be up for watching that, hands up if you would too!
Chocolate easter eggs | Even though the weather doesn’t show spring almost coming, the supermarkets do. Everywhere I go I already see easter eggs and easter bunnies decorating the aisles so obviously I couldn’t help myself but to pick up a pair of pure chocolate eggs now could I?
Take-away Friday | Friday I handed in my midterm and I had reserved the rest of the day to sit under a blanket on the sofa, watch Netflix and eat all the take-aways. I ordered sushi for lunch because, well, it’s my all time favourite food and every opportunity that I get to eat it, I take it.
Then in the evening, when my boyfriend got home we both didn’t feel like cooking cause we both have a massive cold so we ordered pizza. I ordered mine without cheese and they said it wasn’t written anywhere on the order page, but I was absolutely sure that I did write it so I got really mad at them and they had to make another one. Everything was good in the end and we enjoyed our pizza whilst watching Breaking Bad.
Designated survivor | I absolutely love this series and it’s back! It stopped at the end of last year in the middle of the season and now they are sending out an episode a week again. Unfortunately I can’t binge watch it and have to wait old fashionly a whole week for the next episode, but it is so worth it.
Snow | Even though we have had nowhere near as much snow as my pals in England, it has made a little appearance. And for that one morning where I jumped out of bed because my boyfriend said it was all white outside, it was beautiful.
Kapsalon | If you’re not Dutch you probably won’t know what this is (or even if you are, uhum mum). It’s a Dutch fast food meal consisting of kebab, fries, lettuce, tomato, cucumber and a sauce, normally garlic sauce or garlic mayo. You can pretty much get it in any fast food place here in Holland, but obviously a vegan one is hard to find (although my cousin told me that there’s a vegan fast food restaurant in Amsterdam that does this and I can’t wait to try it)
On Wednesday me and my boyfriend decided to make kapsalon ourselves. I had vegan mayo and vegan kebab and it was seriously delicious! We will definitely have to make that again. It was so much we even had to each get a bowl to eat it out, because a plate was too small.
Planning a summer holiday | On Thursday my boyfriend came up to me and asked if I wanted to go on a camping holiday with the car again this summer (two years ago we went to Lille in France, also passing through Gent and Antwerpen and it was amazing!) so of course I said yes! I’ve always said I really want to go visit Denmark some day so he suggested we go there for a week!
We haven’t started planning everything yet but we want take the car and go to Copenhagen with at least a stop in Hamburg. We were also talking about maybe driving even further up through Sweden and to Oslo, but I’m not sure about that yet. Maybe we’ll just make several other stops in Denmark and go to Norway and Sweden some other time.
Blogging weekend | After having spent the whole Friday on the couch binge watching all my favourite tv shows, the weekend was semi reserved for blog work. I also went to see a movie on Saturday and did a little bit of uni work on Sunday, plus just spending some time with my boyfriend. But in the middle of all that I got a LOT of blogging work done. A lot of nitty gritty stuff I just had to finally get out of the way and I’m so glad that is now finally over so that I can properly concentrate on writing and taking some more photos again!
Baking a cake | A few weeks ago I shamingly baked a cake and ate almost the entire thing by myself in two days *insert appropriate emoji here*. I left next to nothing for my boyfriend so I promised him I would bake him one the next week. It took a little longer than I said but I did it, and of course he did let me have a little bit of his cake. As always, it was delicious!
Birds chipping | When the alarm went off this morning and I snoozed it to just lay in bed for 10 more minutes I heard the birds chipping away outside. Firstly, it’s a sign that Spring truly is on it’s way. But secondly, for me it’s most exciting because whenever I hear birds chipping outside in the morning it reminds me of when I used to sleep over at my grandmothers and it also reminds me of Spain. You can imagine that was the best way to wake up on a Monday morning.
