I think I can safely say that most of us have had enough of winter and would love for Spring to make an appearance right about now. Although having a snow storm and temperatures going as low as -15 at the end of February doesn’t quite say: ‘Spring is almost here’, there are a few signs that Spring is most definitely on its way.
At least where I live from last week on the sun has made an appearance again. Although naturally while writing this it’s raining outside. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that it has been sunny all of last week.
It’s been lovely just sitting inside (!!) in the sun enjoying it’s warmth from a safe space. Even though I get extra tired in the sun and kinda unmotivated it’s still been a nice change. It’s warmed up the whole house and even though we have a whole week of rain ahead of us, it’s given us a hint of what’s to come.
If you think of Spring, what smells immediately spring to mind? Maybe it’s freshly cut grass or fresh flowers. Or it’s something more disgusting like cow poo. You might think, Sarah, cow poo? But if you live or have lived in the country side you will know exactly what I am talking about. The smell reminds me of my grandma’s house, simply because she lived very near the countryside. And for some reason it reminds me of Spain, I guess because there I lived in the countryside as well.
But what makes me most excited, smelling that, is that it’s a sign Spring is on its way. I might be completely wrong, maybe it really isn’t, but for me it is. My gut tells me it is.
Whatever it is that you think of those smells are making a return and trying to tease us into the beginning of a new season.
Festivals are making a return
Summer is the time for festivals. Seeing tickets going on sale for them is making me extremely excited. Last weekend I booked tickets for my absolute favourite music festival ever, Defqon 1. It’s the third year in a row that I’m going and I couldn’t be more excited!
Seeing these tickets go on sale (and buying a few myself) is not only making me excited to go to them, but also making me excited that when it’s their time, it’s going to be a lot warmer than it is now. And that certainly is something to look forward to.
The other day I woke up and I heard birds singing outside. It was actually one of my favourite things that week because there is nothing better than waking up to the birds singing outside. Personally, I don’t think there is any other better way to start my day than to wake up and whilst still laying in bed enjoying the sound of the singing birds. And it’s a definite sign that Spring is coming.
