This week, weather wise and other, has been quite of a whirlwind. Let’s start of with the weather like a real northerner (by that I mean northern Europe not north England). The week started off with loads of rain. It wouldn’t stop raining Monday and it went onto Tuesday. Me with my silly head, having thought that we would be in Spring by now I thought I could suffice with a light rain coat. Boy was I wrong, I was freezing on the bike. Then a little later on in the week and it’s over 20 degrees with full on sun, blue skies and no clouds. Dutch weather is a strange thing.
Then onto the rest of the whirlwind of the week. I’ve had a bit of a motivation fluctuation for a while. It’s gone up and down so much in a day. I’ve been wanting to do some stuff for uni and for my blog and one minute I’m all over it and ready to get cracking and the next I’m so bored I literally get distracted with everything. Thankfully this week I have most of the week off because of a holiday so I don’t have to do too much for school and can concentrate on doing some bloggy bits. I’m also wanting to take some courses with skillshare, but more on that next week.
Since most of last week I stayed at home doing not so much there’s 5 things on the list this week, I’ll hopefully be back to 10 again next week!
5 things I’m loving this week
Table football | Ever since going to my aunt’s and uncles for easter my boyfriend has been obsessed with table football. My dad used to have one in Spain and we always liked to play when we were there so naturally we wanted one when we moved out and started living in a bigger place.
But it seems my boyfriend hasn’t been able to wait and has bought a table football! You might think: how in the world is that going to fit in a flat? (I know my dad’s thinking that right now). Well, my boyfriend’s going to make some adjustments to it. He’s going to change the feet so that they go in, so it’s only the table. And he’s going to make wheels on one side so that we can roll it. So the idea is to just have it against a wall, when we’re not playing, where it won’t bother anyone.
Chocolate cake | I’m proud to say that I’ve been eating less and less processed foods lately. I’ve stopped buying chocolate because if not the bar would literally be gone in 10 minutes if I was craving sweets. And now we’ve also started buying non-vegan chocolate paste because I was eating too much of that too.
Occasionally though, I will have a craving I can’t – and don’t want to – control. One of those cravings came in last week so I decided to make a chocolate cake (for lack of better option). It was obviously amazing. Between the two of us it was gone within two days and so worth it.
Re-charge Friday | Originally I had planned to start working on a small paper for one of my classes on Friday, but since my boyfriend was staying at his friend’s house for the day and night I decided to make it my re-charge Friday. Completely let go of all responsibilities and do absolutely nothing.
So that’s what I did. I watched a LOT of episodes of Gilmore Girls, read a LOT of blog posts (still not caught up thought) and played Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. Not a LOT for this one as I keep having to wait for my energy to recharge!
Hoge Veluwe | If you follow me on Insta you’re probably completely sick of me banging on and on about this but I thought I’d mention it on the blog as well. Last Saturday my boyfriend and I went to a national park in Holland. I used to go to this park all the time with my grandma and my cousins and I always enjoyed it loads so it was great to go back and bring back some old memories
We parked the car outside and cycled through the park to the ‘centre’ where there was a restaurant and we ate lunch. They were really nice and made me rice with bolognese sauce because the spaghetti – which was the original recipe – had eggs in it. After eating we went into the free museum and had a wonder around – just like the good old days. It has not changed one tiny bit, everything is exactly as I remember it.
On the last part of our trip we went behind the museum where there are some ‘sand dunes’. My cousins and I used to play on those so much after visiting the museum. We used to take rocks and sticks and build things I think. And we also did the obvious thing, roll around in the sand! That last thing I didn’t do but we did chill there for a little while just taking it all in.
G&T | After a long sunny day on Saturday we ended it at home watching Doctor Strange and drinking Gin & Tonic. I used to hate G&T because I hate tonic. I still would never drink it on it’s own but I’m getting used to the taste together and I’m quite liking it actually, it’s very refreshing especially for these hot days!
