It’s no secret that blog props can make or break a flatlay. I am a well known blog prop hoarder, already owning two baskets full, and I’m not stopping there. But living in Holland and not in England – where all the blogging related things seem to be going on – can be tricky on many fronts. One of them is the constant envy of not having shops such as Homesense and TK Maxx which seem to be blog prop and homeware (which often is the same thing) heaven. Here we have to find other places to make our flatlays look nice, so here are my favourite places to shop for blog props!
Okay so I realise this is a UK online store, but I never said you didn’t also have these stores in England (’cause they’re lucky and get everything we get also). Sass and Belle is great for small trinkets and dishes and homewary bits and basically all other kinds of props you could think of. I got this cute eye trinket, this cat one and a light up S. Plus they have amazingly cute planters which I am definitely going to pick up sometime as well.
I have a flying tiger in Utrecht which is the perfect place to just pop into if you have a spare minute (and a spare €€). I like that they change their stock fairly often so that you’re guaranteed something new if you haven’t been there in a little while. It’s again amazing for trinkets and dishes (notice a theme going on here?) but I’ve also bought many a mug and a bowl there which just looked adorable. Plus there’s also always a wide selection of cards there if you like decorating your flatlay with those.
Action is one of the few stores that the UK don’t have! It’s a store where you can buy a lot of things, from notebooks to bicycle supplies to food to make-up. Anything’s there, granted it’s not very good quality but still. That’s why Action is so perfect for blog props, it might not have the most amazing things, but if you look in the crafts section you will most likely always be able to find at least something to your liking. The best thing it’s always very budget friendly!
A not so budget friendly but very amazing store is anthropologie! Unfortunately (as far as I know of) we don’t have an actual store of these in Holland (yet? would be much appreciated) but we can roam the online space and buy anything (except for the big furniture) from there. Since it is quite expensive I like to dream about what I want to get and then when the sale hits, pick up a couple of pieces and make my flatlay visions come true! I’ve picked up this really beautiful plate from there before, this really nice napkin – which I’m dying to get different colour variations of – and these two letter mugs (here and here) which I use constantly, both for drinking and for photos.
Onto a more cheaper option, another online store, this time from China. Anything from this site is from independent sellers from China, so beware when you buy things they will most likely take a couple of weeks. This is another place you can find literally anything, although this time it is literally anything, seriously try finding something they’ll most likely have it. So to buy something here you have to have more of an idea of what you want, you can’t just endlessly wonder and get lost in the website like you can with anthropologie. But if you know what you want they can have really beautiful things at an incredibly cheap pricepoint. I want to buy these beautiful golden scissors (blogger cliché right here) and I also bought several metres of fairy lights on there too.
Another store that is very Dutch, although I think they’ve expanded to some parts of England and Belgium now too. And also another store where you can get literally anything. From clothes, to bicycle supplies (we cycle a lot in Holland in case you didn’t know) to food to more make-up (hema has their own make-up now) to anything for school. This is not my favourite place to get blog props but I have found the occasional thing. Since there is at least one hema in pretty much every city and town in Holland it’s really easy to just go in and have a little wander, you never know what you might find.
